Name: Matt Stear
Team: The Balled Egos
Years in CSFA: All of them.
Occupation: Building construction equipment.
Interests beyond football: Skiing, camping, bicycling, golfing, SCUBA diving. Spending time with family and friends.
Why my team will win the CSFA championship: The law of averages.
Why chicks dig fantasy football: I think, from time to time, that most women fantasize about kicking the ball between the uprights.
Now the truly serious questions that separate man from beast.
Wilma or Betty? If I’ve got to pick a cartoon character, it’s got to be Li’l Annie Fanny.
Beatles or Elvis? Beatles. (Although, if there hadn’t been an Elvis there wouldn’t have been the Beatles.)
Secondary question if your answer was Beatles, Paul or John? John (“Everybody loves you when you’re six feet under.” – John Lennon)
Which Stooge are you? The only one I can remember is Iggy Pop.
Cubs or Cardinals? Cubs.
Crime or punishment? I chose the Cubs; you decide.
This is interview number eight in a series of twelve.

How many franchise names? I remember New Philadelphia Balled Egos but it seems there were more.
The original franchise name was the New Philadelphia Balled Egos. Since we were in the process of relocating to New Philadelphia (OH) as the league was forming, the name was a spin-off of the Philadelphia Eagles. Eagles/Bald Eagles morphed into Balled Egos (as in foot-balled, of course, not the other kind). When we moved away from New Philadelphia seven years later, the name was truncated to the Balled Egos, which it has remained ever since.
Due to recent events, team management is considering another name change, such as, the Running Sores. This is because of injuries to key players, especially at critical moments. For example, Brian Westbrook getting knocked out in the 1st quarter of a Monday Night Football game. All we needed was one point from him to secure a victory. Instead, the Hell Fire scored 13 points in the Monday Night game to come back for a 62-62 tie (oh, the Vagaries).
I have seen newsletters that reference the Balled Egos as the Eldridge Balled Egos. I believe the team had humble beginnings in Iowa.
That was the cradle of the Egos. Apparently, that may be where I left my memory, too. Thanks Steve.
